“Chamberlin’s Sweet Dream”

Being an artist is such a great gift  to use to help a friend or make a gift for  a special friend. I love being challenged as an artist and having some unique opportunities to be creative. One such event was a pet bed design contest sponsored by P.L.A.Y pet beds and Dog Milk. I wanted to do something different so I didn’t have to go far for inspiration. I just looked on my studio wall and there it well, he was…my Dogs for the PAWS #80 dog, Chamberlin. I always try to help promote all the wonderful work and inspiration that Chamberlin has been doing and sharing with everyone. He is so special and I’ve had the chance to visit him a couple of times in North Carolina at the Guilford County Shelter where he lives.

I decided to make Chamberlin a very special gift if I was the lucky one to win the grand prize of the contest which was to have your winning design made into an actual pet bed…I quickly went to work scribbling and thinking what would be a unique design to submit. Since Chamberlin isn’t able to walk, due to neglect and the muscles in his legs didn’t heal properly during his recovery. He has a wheelchair and I have seen him fly in it. But I am sure somewhere in his heart he would love to have his legs back to run and romp like everbuddy else! So the idea and title, “Chamberlin’s Dream” was set. I worked a few days on it and finally finished and sent it in for the contest. Excitement at the chance to win the bed and give it to Chamberlin was all I wished for during the contest.

Well I couldn’t believe it when I was sitting at work one day and my friend Ginny called me screaming that we had won the contest!!! It didn’t click at first that I had won the grand prize and Chamberlin’s bed would become an actual bed. I was so honored to be featured on the sponsor’s site and so proud to be able to give my friend this very special gift to thank him for all his friendship and inspiration he has shared with Dogs for the PAWS, my artwork and my life. So I send a WOOF to Chamberlin and thank him for all he does to help raise awareness and educate others how they can make a difference for fuzzy friends in need. Dog Bless you Team Chamberlin!!! Will see you soon!
